To Gain a Golden Globe

Visibly pregnant, Michelle Williams, who won a Golden Globe for her role as an actress in the limited series “Fosse/Verdon,” gave an impassioned speech on women’s reproductive rights during her award ceremony. She began by saying,

"When you put this in someone's hands, you're acknowledging the choices they make as an actor. Moment by moment, scene by scene, day by day. But you're also acknowledging the choices they make as a person. The education they pursued, the training they sought, the hours they put in. I'm grateful for the acknowledgment of the choices I've made and I'm also grateful to have lived in a moment in our society where choice exists, because as women and as girls, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice…"

It was immediately obvious to those listening, even if they were unaware of it earlier, that Williams was flaunting her advocacy for the abortion industry; that she was, in fact, “pro-choice.” Her statements are not indicative that the actress has undergone an abortion herself, but are an admission that she supports a woman’s right to choose to terminate a pregnancy and thus end a life.

The language she employed was itself interesting as she said, “…things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice.” This seems to have been a clear reference to the #MeToo movement, which has had varying success in a multitude of areas, but in this case, is a go-to defense of keeping abortion clinics open and making sure the act itself remains legal.

Williams continued, “I've tried my very best to live a life of my own making and not just a series of events that happened to me, but one that I could stand back and look at and recognize my and writing all over. Sometimes messy and scrawling, sometimes careful and precise, but one that I had carved with my own hand. And I wouldn't have been able to do this without employing a woman's right to choose…" Again, this is not a direct admission to having had an abortion, but considering her statement that a woman’s right to choose (an abortion) gained her success, it does seem to point to that having been the case. Regardless, there is a deeper issue in Williams’ statements, and that is the fact that, by her own admission, the sacrificing of human life plays a vital role in the success of women’s lives and careers today. One can almost picture the image of a woman sacrificing a baby at the altar of Molech in exchange for fame, fortune, wealth, or, perhaps, a Golden Globe award.

Williams concluded by saying, “To choose when to have my children and with whom, when I felt supported, and able to balance our lives, as all mothers know, that the scales must and will tip towards our children. Now I know my choices might look different than yours, but thank God, or whoever you pray to, that we live in a country founded on the principles that I am free to live by my faith and you are free to live by yours. So, women 18 to 118, when it is time to vote, please do so in your self-interest. It's what men have been doing for years, which is why the world looks so much like them, but don't forget we are the largest voting body in this country. Let's make it look more like us.”

There is a lot to break down in her final statement. Here the clear goal of the secular and the feminist is spelled out; to do away with the fundamental Judeo-Christian laws that govern the United States, while still claiming that the laws of the nation are being upheld. Again, by Williams’ own admission, the goal is to reshape the world in the image of feminism.

From a Biblical perspective, the desire of Eve to usurp Adam’s authority is still ever-present in the world today, as women seek not merely equality with, but dominance over men. Likewise, the secular vision, wherein sacrificing for your children is seen as destructive to a person’s own worth, success, and well-being, is contrasted with the Biblical vision of loving our children, sacrificing daily for their worth, success, and well-being, all to the glory of God.

Williams claimed to be living by her own faith, and make no mistake, secular feminism and its pro-abortion philosophy is a faith that it cannot—indeed, will not—co-exist with Judeo-Christian values.

Williams is set to star in the upcoming Amazon film, “This is Jane,” centering on the story of the Jane Collective, an illegal abortion group predating Roe V. Wade and the legalization of abortion. As pro-abortion advocates become bolder in their depravity, even using the subject as entertainment, it must be wondered how much further they will take their actions.

How much more life will be sacrificed for the sake of careers or even just entertainment? Jesus asked what a man would have if he gained the whole world yet lost his own soul. Perhaps we should also be asking what a woman would have if she gains a Golden Globe but sacrifices a baby.
