Westbrook: Sanctuary for the Unborn
Texas cities continue to show their commitment to life as Westbrook became the seventh Texas community to become a sanctuary city for the unborn.
The city ordinance passed unanimously on Monday, November 18th, makes it illegal to perform an abortion within the city limits. While Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey do not allow for public enforcement of these ordinances, private litigation is an option for those affected by the horrific actions of Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities.
A small town of approximately 300 residents, Westbrook is looking to be the leader in West Texas in the fight for life. One of its residents has a special connection to the cause of shutting down the abortion industry.
Lynn Gaston, a resident of Westbrook and their former mayor, was adopted at two weeks old. She says, “I give thanks, on a regular basis, to our heavenly Father for choosing life for me.”
A voice for the voiceless, Gaston hopes that the trend of sanctuary cities for the unborn spreads across Texas. “I am so proud to stand for the unborn, to help speak on their behalf for life,” she says.
This former mayor is not the only one thankful for Westbrook’s commitment to babies in the womb. Lisa Cain, who grew up in Westbrook and attends church in town on the weekends, notes how important it is that everyone is given a chance at life. “Each person who has passed through Westbrook has made an impact on that community and has made Westbrook the special place that it is today,” she says.
The community needs to protect the most vulnerable from the murderous abortion industry. Her hope is that they would “have the opportunity to leave his or her unique footprint in this special place.”
A hat-tip is due to Westbrook for standing in this fight for life. While their town may be small, they understand that the abortion industry will not give up on their desire to normalize abortion and garner costumers from far and wide across Texas.
Those devoted to the pro-life cause should be enlivened that Texas is turning the tide for the smallest of our communities. Praise God that His will is being done, now in Westbrook, Texas. Follow CRIT-LARGE in the fight against abortion, in our continuing series Texas: Sanctuary for the Unborn.
