So Now we Care about the Police? Leftist Inconsistency
As the Big Tech Purge of Conservatism rages on, New York City has joined the ranks of those suddenly emboldened to cut ties with and censor conservatives. Accusing President Trump if inciting riots and violence, New York City said in a statement:
"The attacks on our Capitol killed a police officer, left four rioters dead, exposed lawmakers to Covid-19 and threatened the constitutional transfer of power. They were a national abomination. We're reviewing whether legal grounds exist in light of these new circumstances to terminate concessions with the Trump Organization."
Condemning the violent riots has simply become the latest form of virtue signaling. While those who were violent and broke the law are rightly condemned, where was/is this attitude among the those one the Left regarding Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots? Apparently, Police Officers don’t matter whenever BLM is involved. Apparently, it’s cool to Back the Blue whenever it helps advance a political agenda. (Now, New York City is serving as a case study of leftist inconsistency. Not all of the writer’s points may be relevant to NYC directly.)
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio also said:
“The president incited a rebellion against the United States government that killed five people and threatened to derail the constitutional transfer of power. The city of New York will not be associated with those unforgivable acts in any shape, way or form.”
Mayor de Blasio claims that President Trump “incited a rebellion.” Once again, while the violent Capitol riots are justly condemned, they were not the insurrectionists we should focus on! While the Capitol rioters might be considered insurrectionist in a looser since of the term, they were not attempting to destroy the government. Rather (regardless of how flawed their thinking was), they were wanting to preserve the American system that is threatened by a Democratic-party government. Now, of course, the spontaneous storming of the Capitol was not the way to do it.
Many of the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots more fully classify as insurrection. An insurrectionist wants to topple the existing authorities and completely change a governmental system via violent means. This is what several members of BLM and Antifa have openly declared. The “trained Marxists” and so-called anti-fascists desire a complete restructuring of American society in accords with a Marxists, critical theory (i.e., racist), ungodly vision. Yet, the Left, generally speaking, celebrates these people. While not trying to be doomsayer, Conservatives must be prepared for the riots and for the actual insurrection to get worse. The monster of the Left may very soon be unleashed in ways nigh unimaginable. As Teddy Roosevelt said, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Christian would be wise to prepare for the worst, while always speaking with salt (John 15:18; Matthew 5:13).
