TEXIT Movement Finds Much Interest In Denton County
The True Texas Project was only expecting 75 people for the ‘True Talk about TEXIT’ gathering at DFW Adventure Park in Northlake, Texas, but they ended up with a whole lot more. 350 people to be exact. 350 people who were ready and willing to talk about the possibility of Texas exiting the United States of America.
Front and center was Representative Kyle Biedermann (R-Fredericksburg). Joining Biedermann was Representative Bryan Slaton (R-Royse City) and Representative Jeff Cason (R-Bedford). The meeting came in the aftermath of the January 26th filing of House Bill 1359, also known as the Texas Independence Referendum Act.
The full title of the bill reads, “A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to proposing a referendum to the people of the State of Texas on the question of whether this state should leave the United States of America and establish an independent republic.”
The bill, which was filed by Representative Biedermann, does not immediately grant Texas independence from the United States of America but seeks to survey the voters themselves to see if they are for or against the Texas Legislature creating a committee to develop a plan with the independence of Texas in mind. To quote Representative Biedermann himself, “This act simply lets Texas vote.”
In his January 26th press release Biedermann shared his heart to see the issue placed into the hands of the voters themselves. “This decision is too big to be monopolized solely by the power brokers in our Capitol. We need to let Texans’ voices be heard!”
Biedermann continued, “Voters of all political persuasions in Texas can agree on one thing, Washington D.C. is and has been broken. Our federal government continuously fails our working families, seniors, taxpayers, veterans and small business owners. For decades, the promises of America and our individual liberties have been eroding. It is now time that the People of Texas are allowed the right to decide their own future. This is not a left or right political issue. Let Texans Vote!”
When asked what needed to be done to make House Bill 1359 become a reality Biedermann’s message was simple. Biedermann encouraged those in attendance to call their senators and their representatives in order to voice their support of House Bill 1359.
